Smaller LDF Allies in Kerala Consider Broader Platform and Leave Merger Option Open Following Assembly Election Setback

A faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by A.K. Saseendran, is currently in discussions with the Congress (Secular) party and the Indian Socialist Janata Dal to explore the establishment of a broader political platform. This initiative is being considered while these parties continue to participate in the existing Left coalition in Kerala.

The collaboration among these parties aims to strengthen their political influence ahead of potential electoral merges. By solidifying their stance as a united front, they hope to better navigate the political landscape in Kerala, which has traditionally been dominated by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF).

Political analysts suggest that such a move could impact upcoming elections, as the formation of a broader coalition may attract more voters and provide a viable alternative to the dominant coalition parties. This development reflects ongoing efforts among smaller parties in Kerala to enhance their relevance and representation in the state’s political sphere.
