Cabinet Approves Major Road Infrastructure Projects in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh
In a significant decision aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure, the Union Cabinet of India has approved highway projects totaling ₹14,115 crore ($1.7 billion). Among the key projects are an 8-kilometer six-lane Dwarka tunnel in Delhi and an access-controlled highway in Uttar Pradesh connecting Kanpur to Kabrai.
The Dwarka tunnel, projected to cost ₹6,970 crore ($844 million), is designed to alleviate traffic congestion in the rapidly developing Dwarka area, providing a crucial link between various parts of the city. This ambitious project is expected to streamline travel and improve connectivity within the National Capital Region (NCR).
Additionally, a four-lane highway extending from Kanpur to Kabrai has been green-lighted under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. This project carries an estimated cost of ₹7,145 crore ($860 million) and aims to facilitate smoother transit in a region known for heavy vehicular traffic.
