Piyush Goyal Advises States to Identify Imported Goods for Manufacturing

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has urged state governments to identify products that can be substituted for imports in an effort to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities. This initiative aims to reduce the outflow of foreign exchange and fortify domestic supply chains.

In addition, Goyal advocated for the establishment of export committees and the implementation of monthly reviews to assist industries that encounter unfair trade practices. To further bolster these efforts, a targeted 90-day campaign will be launched, focusing on 120 districts across the country to increase the number of registered exporters and enhance the overall export value. This campaign aligns with the governments One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, which seeks to promote the distinctive products of each district, thereby encouraging localized production and economic growth.

The initiative is part of the governments broader strategy to strengthen the Indian economy and improve the countrys balance of trade by reducing reliance on imports and promoting locally manufactured goods in both domestic and international markets.
