Coimbatore Textile Research Institute to Initiate ₹80-Crore Project for Green Processing Promotion

In response to increasing demand from Western buyers for sustainable garment suppliers, the Textile Research Institute (SITRA) has proposed a new initiative aimed at promoting green textile processing practices. This project seeks to enhance sustainability within the textile industry by encouraging the adoption of environmentally friendly production methods.

The initiative comes at a time when consumers are increasingly concerned about the environmental impacts of fashion and are opting for brands that prioritize sustainability. SITRAs project will focus on developing technologies and processes that minimize waste, reduce water and energy consumption, and utilize eco-friendly materials.

By fostering collaboration between manufacturers and sustainable technology providers, SITRA aims to support the transition towards a more sustainable textile industry, which could potentially improve market access for suppliers that embrace these practices. The project is expected to provide guidance and resources for companies seeking to implement green processes while aligning with global sustainability standards.
