15 Ships Transporting Urea, DAP, and Sulphur to India Pass Through Hormuz, Government Reports

Indias Fertilizer Supply Remains Stable Amid Middle East Conflicts

In light of ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, Indias fertilizer supply chain has demonstrated resilience, with most shipments successfully passing through the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz. This vital waterway is crucial for global oil and fertilizer shipments, and Indias ability to maintain supply underscores effective logistics and planning.

The countrys domestic fertilizer production has not only met but exceeded set targets, thanks in part to proactive measures taken by the government, including strategic diplomatic outreach to secure new supply sources. Additionally, the full restoration of natural gas supplies to fertilizer manufacturing plants has played a crucial role in ensuring a steady production flow, essential for meeting the needs of farmers.

As a result, India currently holds substantial fertilizer stocks that cover over 51% of the annual demand, safeguarding farmers interests amid potential global price fluctuations caused by international tensions. This robust supply chain is vital for maintaining agricultural productivity and stability in food prices, especially in a country where a significant portion of the population relies on agriculture for their livelihood.
