Mandatory Biometric Attendance Now Required for 80% of PG Dental Students, Official NDC Notice Available

The National Dental Commission (NDC) has mandated that postgraduate dental students across the country must maintain a minimum biometric attendance of 80% to qualify for university examinations. This requirement reinforces an existing regulation established in 2017, which was not consistently enforced across various institutions.

The decision to reiterate and strictly enforce this rule comes in response to concerns raised by several states, including Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, regarding inadequate attendance among students. The NDC has stated that dental colleges will be held accountable for any instances of non-compliance with these attendance guidelines.

Biometric attendance systems are designed to provide accuracy in tracking student attendance and ensure that academic standards are upheld within dental programs. Institutions are expected to implement these systems effectively and monitor attendance diligently to avoid violations that could affect students eligibility for examinations.
