Mumbai Weather Update: City Remains Under Red Alert Due to Ongoing Rains

Mumbai Faces Heavy Rain: Red Alert Issued

Mumbai is currently grappling with heavy rainfall, prompting local authorities to place the city on a red alert. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued this alert due to forecasts predicting continued downpours that could lead to severe waterlogging and disruptions across the metropolitan area.

As a precautionary measure, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges on July 6, 2023. The civic body has advised residents to remain indoors to ensure their safety.

Reports indicate that the torrential rain has already resulted in traffic disruptions, with several roads becoming impassable due to flooding and fallen debris. Local flight operations have also been affected, causing delays and cancellations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

New measures are being implemented to manage the situation, including increased monitoring of drainage systems and response teams on standby for any emergencies. The city administration is urging citizens to exercise caution when traveling and to stay updated on weather developments.
