Chief Minister Vijay Inspects Desalination Plants and Samples Water
In a recent directive, Mr. Vijay emphasized the importance of ensuring proper maintenance at the Nemmeli desalination plants. He instructed officials to implement measures that guarantee uninterrupted supply of drinking water to the public.
The Nemmeli desalination facility, located near Chennai, plays a crucial role in addressing the regions water scarcity issues by converting seawater into potable water. Operational since 2010, the plant has a capacity of producing approximately 100 million liters of drinking water per day, catering to a significant portion of Chennais population.
Mr. Vijay’s instructions highlight the ongoing challenges related to water supply in urban areas, especially during periods of drought or increased demand. Ensuring the efficient operation of such facilities is essential for the long-term sustainability of water resources in the region. Regular maintenance not only enhances the plant’s operational efficiency but also extends its lifespan, contributing to a more robust water management strategy in Tamil Nadu.
