Karnataka Cancels Late Admission Penalty for PUC Students

In the academic year 2018-2019, the Government of Karnataka introduced a penalty structure for students enrolling late in Pre-University (PU) colleges. The fines imposed ranged from ₹670 to ₹2,220, depending on the duration of the delay in enrollment.

This decision was aimed at encouraging timely admissions, facilitating better academic planning, and ensuring that students do not miss out on critical instructional time. Critics of the policy have raised concerns about its impact on economically disadvantaged students, who may struggle with the added financial burden.
