Indias First Private Orbital Rocket, Vikram-1, Set for Launch on July 18

Skyroot Aerospace is poised to make history with the launch of Vikram-1, India’s first privately developed orbital rocket, scheduled for July 18. The launch will take place at the Sriharikota spaceport, a pivotal site for Indias space missions.

A viewing gallery at the launch site has opened for public registrations, allowing spectators to witness this landmark event live. Skyroot aims to enter the competitive space launch market with Vikram-1, demonstrating the capabilities of private enterprises in Indias aerospace sector.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commended the initiative, emphasizing the potential of young talent in India to drive advancements in technology and innovation. This launch is seen as a significant step towards establishing a vibrant private space industry in the country.

Vikram-1s mission, named “Mission Aagaman,” aims to demonstrate various technologies essential for future space exploration and satellite deployment. This effort is part of a broader initiative to enhance Indias position in the global space arena, particularly after the successful missions conducted by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Skyroot Aerospace, founded in 2018 by former ISRO engineers, has received backing from various investors and aims to make space access more affordable and frequent, providing launch services for small satellites.
