Smartphone Exports from India Surge by 165 Times to Rs 2.59 Lakh Crore

Indias electronics manufacturing sector has experienced remarkable growth over the past decade, marked by significant advancements in mobile phone exports and domestic production. According to projections, mobile phone exports are anticipated to reach approximately Rs 2.59 lakh crore (around $31.5 billion) by the fiscal year 2025-26. Concurrently, domestic mobile phone production has surged by roughly 33 times during this period.

The broader electronics manufacturing landscape has also expanded, with the sector witnessing a near sevenfold increase in production capabilities. Furthermore, exports in the electronics sector have grown elevenfold, reflecting Indias rising prominence in the global electronics supply chain.

To bolster this growth, the Indian government has launched the Semicon India Programme, aimed at enhancing the countrys semiconductor ecosystem. This initiative focuses on fostering semiconductor fabrication, packaging, and chip design capabilities, which are crucial for the advancement of various high-tech industries. Through these efforts, India seeks to position itself as a key player in the global electronics market and reduce dependency on imports for semiconductors, a critical component in modern electronic devices.
