Anees recalls final moments with Divya Bharti before her passing: “She was calling for help”

Filmmaker Anees Bazmee has reflected on the challenges faced during the reshoot of his film “Laadla” following the tragic passing of actress Divya Bharti. The loss of Bharti necessitated significant revisions to the film, resulting in nearly the entire project needing to be reconstructed. This process proved to be emotionally taxing for the entire team involved.

In a fortunate turn of events, renowned actress Sridevi ultimately accepted the lead role in the Hindi remake. Sridevi, who had previously turned down offers for both the Tamil and Telugu versions of the story, was persuaded to join the project thanks to Bazmees extensive script revisions, which enhanced the narrative and character development.

“Laadla,” which was released in 1994, went on to become notable in Bollywood for its ensemble cast and for addressing themes around gender roles and family dynamics. The films successful release is often attributed to Sridevis powerful performance, which played a critical role in transforming the film into a box office success.
