Indias Services PMI Declines to Lowest Level in Over 4.5 Years Amid Weakening Demand and New Orders

Indias services sector experienced a notable slowdown in growth during July, marking the weakest expansion seen in over four years. The slowdown in new business inflows was particularly pronounced, growing at the slowest rate since early 2022. This deceleration has been attributed to diminished domestic demand. Meanwhile, demand from international markets showed relative resilience, with export sales exceeding overall sales growth, suggesting that overseas markets remain a crucial component of the sectors performance.

Additionally, employment growth within the services sector saw a slight improvement; however, overall business confidence dipped, reaching its lowest point in seven months. On the cost front, input cost inflation has reportedly eased, prompting companies to increase their selling prices at the fastest rate observed since April.

This slowdown in the services sector could have broader implications for Indias economy, as the services industry has become a key driver of economic growth in recent years, contributing significantly to GDP and employment. Analysts will be closely monitoring further developments in consumer demand and international market trends, which may influence future growth trajectories.
