Kavach: An Overview of Indian Railways Indigenous Advanced Technology
Indian Railways is focusing on the deployment of its advanced safety system, Kavach, on high-density and heavily trafficked routes that account for approximately 96% of the nation’s railway traffic. This strategic initiative is aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency in train operations across these vital corridors.
In a significant advancement, the next-generation version of Kavach, named Kavach 5.0, is currently under development specifically for suburban rail operations. This upgraded system is designed to cater to increased train frequencies, thereby improving operational capacity and reducing the time intervals between train services. The implementation of Kavach technology is expected to bolster safety measures by preventing potential collisions and ensuring more reliable train operations in busy urban rail networks.
The Indian Railways continues to invest in modern safety technologies and infrastructure improvements, reflecting its commitment to enhancing the overall user experience and safety in rail transportation.
