India Expands Energy Sourcing Diversification in Response to Geopolitical Risks
India is diversifying its energy import portfolio, specifically targeting liquefied natural gas (LNG) and crude oil, as part of a strategy to reduce dependence on a single source or transportation route. This initiative aligns with the country’s broader energy security goals and aims to mitigate risks associated with supply disruptions and price volatility in the global energy market.
In conjunction with its expansion of energy imports, the Indian government is also investing in improving domestic crude oil storage facilities. This new infrastructure is expected to enhance the countrys capacity to manage its oil reserves effectively, enabling a more robust response to potential market fluctuations.
These measures are part of Indias ongoing efforts to strengthen its energy resilience, particularly in light of recent global supply chain challenges and geopolitical tensions that have affected energy prices and availability. By broadening its sources of energy and improving storage capabilities, India aims to ensure a stable and secure energy system for its growing economy, which is one of the largest consumers of energy in the world.
