Karnataka Government to Seek Compensation from IAF for Transfer of 58 Acres of Forest Land to BMRCL, According to Eshwar Khandre
During a session of the Legislative Assembly on Thursday, Karnatakas Forest Minister B. Eshwar Khandre stated that the Indian Air Force (IAF) is currently in unauthorized possession of forest land in Jarakbande Kaval village, located in the Bengaluru North taluk. According to Minister Khandre, the land that was previously allocated to the IAF had its grant cancelled. Furthermore, it was revealed that the IAF has transferred approximately 58 acres of forest land to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) in exchange for monetary compensation.
This situation underscores ongoing tensions regarding land use and management in the region, particularly concerning the encroachment of forest areas for developmental projects. The involvement of prominent entities such as the IAF and BMRCL highlights the complexities of urban development in proximity to ecologically sensitive areas. Ongoing discussions and legislative actions may be necessary to resolve these land use conflicts while ensuring environmental protection. The Ministers remarks may also prompt further investigation into land allocation practices and adherence to environmental regulations in Karnataka.
