Parliamentary Panel Reports Over 1,500 Vacant Positions at NCERT and 44% Unfilled Roles at CBSE

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is currently grappling with significant staff shortages, with over 1,500 positions remaining vacant, which constitutes more than half of its sanctioned workforce. Similarly, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is facing challenges as approximately 44% of its posts are unfilled.

These staffing deficiencies have been brought to light by a parliamentary committee, which raised concerns about the potential implications for critical functions, including the administration of national board examinations and the implementation of educational reforms. The committee emphasized that these shortages could impede the effective operation of both institutions, jeopardizing their ability to fulfill their educational mandates.

In light of these findings, there have been calls for urgent action to fill these vacancies to ensure that the NCERT and CBSE can continue to provide essential educational services and leadership in Indias school system. The educational community is closely monitoring this situation, as it may impact the upcoming academic year and associated assessment processes.
