Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that India is set to establish 5 to 8 new semiconductor manufacturing plants over the next 7 to 8 years. This initiative is a part of Indias broader strategy to enhance self-reliance in chip production, a critical component for various advanced technologies, from smartphones to automobiles.
During a recent speech, PM Modi emphasized the importance of self-sufficiency in semiconductor manufacturing, highlighting the global semiconductor shortage exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical tensions.
