Delhi revokes Class 9 R3 rule that may have restricted students eligibility for Class 10 board exams.

Delhi’s education department has officially withdrawn a rule that could have barred Class 9 students from taking their Class 10 board examinations based on their performance in a third language (R3). This decision comes in response to concerns and confusion surrounding the implementation of the earlier provision.

Previously, under the withdrawn rule, students who failed in their R3 subject could have faced disqualification from participating in the crucial Class 10 board exams. However, this policy change aligns the Delhi education system with the guidelines set forth by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). According to CBSE regulations, R3 is evaluated internally and does not affect a students eligibility for board exams, ensuring that students can complete their secondary education without being hindered by their performance in this subject.

This decision is expected to alleviate the anxiety among students and parents regarding examination qualifications, affirming a commitment to support students’ educational progression within the formal education system. The Delhi education authorities have emphasized the importance of student well-being and academic success.
