NCERT Reconstitutes Political Science Textbook Team for Classes 11 and 12

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has restructured the team responsible for developing new Political Science textbooks for Classes 11 and 12. The revised team will focus on integrating concepts related to Indian knowledge systems, cultural rootedness, and inclusivity within the curriculum.

The newly formed panel comprises various academics, some of whom have affiliations with organizations such as the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This composition has raised discussions about the potential influence of these associations on the educational content.

The textbook for Class 11 is expected to be completed by November 2023, while the Class 12 textbook is anticipated to follow in 2024. The NCERT periodically updates its textbooks to align with current educational methodologies and societal changes, underscoring the importance of culturally relevant content in the nations education system.
