India Negotiates Trade Agreements Covering 75% of Global Trade with Additional Countries

In a recent address to business leaders from India and Japan, Union Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted India’s robust domestic market and its increasing integration into the global economy. He noted that India has actively pursued international trade relations, having signed nine free trade agreements (FTAs) in the last four years. These agreements aim to enhance market access for Indian products and services while fostering economic cooperation with partner countries.

Goyals remarks come as India continues to position itself as a significant player in the global marketplace, capitalizing on its demographic advantages and vast consumer base. The FTAs are part of Indias broader strategy to boost exports, attract foreign investment, and improve trade relations with various nations, especially in the Asia-Pacific region, which includes Japan as a key economic partner. The minister encouraged the representatives to explore collaboration opportunities, particularly in sectors where both nations have a mutual interest, such as technology, manufacturing, and renewable energy.
