Daikin Announces Fresh Investment of Rs 2,800 Crore

In a recent meeting, Indias Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, proposed to Naofumi Takaneka, the President and Chief Operating Officer of Daikin Industries, that the Japanese company expand its operations in India beyond the assembly of compressors. Goyal suggested that Daikin consider establishing manufacturing capabilities for both compressors and their components within the country.

Takaneka acknowledged Goyals recommendation and indicated that Daikins research and development center would focus on creating products tailored to the unique climatic conditions of India. This meeting underscores the Indian government’s ongoing efforts to attract foreign investment and encourage local manufacturing under initiatives such as “Make in India.”

Daikin Industries, a leading global air conditioning manufacturer, has been increasingly investing in India, where it anticipates substantial growth potential due to rising demand for air conditioning and energy-efficient solutions. The companys current operations include assembly y of air conditioning units, and this potential shift to local manufacturing could enhance its product offerings while significantly contributing to India’s industrial landscape.
