Raids Conducted at 64 Bengaluru PGs Reveal Expired Items and Pest Control Products Near Food

Hotels and Clubs in Bengaluru Face Food Safety Raids: Expired Foods and Hygiene Violations Found

Recent inspections conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Bengaluru have uncovered serious health and safety violations at multiple establishments, including 64 paying guest (PG) accommodations and the Chairman’s Club. During these operations, authorities seized expired food items and hazardous substances, raising concerns about food safety standards in the area.

In one significant raid at the Chairman’s Club, inspectors discovered 40 kilograms of expired chili powder, mixed meat, and vegetables, prompting the immediate closure of the kitchen due to severe hygiene violations. The inspections also revealed the presence of pest control materials, including bed bug powder, adjacent to food preparation areas, which poses a serious health risk to patrons.

These enforcement actions are part of ongoing efforts by the FDA to ensure that food establishments adhere to safety regulations. The inspections follow reports of complaints from consumers regarding the quality and safety of food served in various locations in the city. Authorities have stated that such measures will continue to promote public health and safety.

In light of these findings, the FDA has urged all food establishments to review and enhance their food safety practices to comply with regulatory standards. The health department is monitoring compliance and will conduct follow-up inspections to ensure that violations are not repeated.

The situation emphasizes the importance of maintaining proper hygiene and safety protocols in food service operations to protect consumers from potential health hazards.
