PM Modi Highlights Indias Readiness as a Global Manufacturing Hub

At the recently concluded SEMICON India 2026 conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized Indias potential as a reliable and prepared destination to address emerging global manufacturing challenges. He stated that the nation is poised to be a “trustworthy” player in the semiconductor industry, amidst increasing geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions worldwide.

The Prime Minister addressed concerns regarding the “weaponization” of supply chains, encouraging international stakeholders to consider India as a viable base for chip manufacturing. He believes that India can leverage its vast talent pool and technological advancements to accelerate growth in the semiconductor sector.

Furthermore, in his address, PM Modi outlined an ambitious roadmap for “Semicon 2.0,” which envisions the establishment of 200 startups and the creation of over 100,000 technician jobs, along with an estimated investment of $12 billion. This initiative aims to boost Indias manufacturing capabilities and enhance its position in the global semiconductor supply chain.
