Government Encourages Bank Employees to End September 28-30 Strike Through Dialogue

The finance ministry has called on bank employees to engage in dialogue to address their demands, as a three-day nationwide strike is scheduled to take place from September 28 to 30. The unions representing bank employees are advocating for a five-day workweek and the withdrawal of the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which they believe may negatively impact job security and work-life balance.

In response to these demands, the government has stated that it has already addressed a majority of the concerns raised by the unions and is actively reviewing the remaining issues.

In anticipation of potential disruptions during the strike, banks are advising customers to utilize digital services for their banking needs. This guidance comes as part of the efforts to minimize the impact of the strike on banking operations and to ensure that essential services remain available.

The dialogue between the finance ministry and the unions is critical, as both parties seek to find a resolution that accommodates the interests of employees while maintaining the operational integrity of the banking sector. The outcome of the negotiations could have significant implications for both employees and customers in the coming weeks.
