Karnataka Set to Declare 53 More Taluks as Drought-Affected, Total Reaches 177

The Government of Karnataka has announced that an additional 53 taluks will be designated as drought-hit, bringing the total number of affected taluks in the state to 177. This decision follows an assessment of the ongoing drought conditions that have severely impacted agricultural activities and water resources across the region.

The drought situation has been attributed to insufficient rainfall during the monsoon season, which has resulted in crop failures and significant challenges for farmers. As of now, the state government is considering measures to assist those affected by the drought, which may include financial aid, provisions for water supply, and support for livestock.

Karnataka, which is one of Indias major agricultural states, has been facing recurring droughts in recent years, leading to a pressing need for effective water management strategies and sustainable agricultural practices. The government is working on a long-term plan to address the issues related to water scarcity and agricultural resilience amid changing climate patterns.

Local officials and agricultural experts are closely monitoring the situation, and more detailed relief measures are expected to be announced soon to help mitigate the effects of the drought on communities and farming operations.
