Request for Health Camps to Combat Vector-Borne Diseases among Senior Citizens

The Federation of Senior Citizens Organizations of Tamil Nadu has called on the state government to establish health camps aimed at preventing vector-borne diseases, which pose an increased risk to elderly populations. The organization emphasized the rising incidence of diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, and malaria, particularly during the monsoon season.

In a recent statement, the federation highlighted that seniors are more vulnerable due to age-related health issues and often require more immediate preventive care. The group urged health authorities to provide educational resources at these camps, focusing on symptom recognition and prevention methods, as well as regular screenings to detect these illnesses early.

Health officials noted that vector-borne diseases remain a significant public health concern, especially in regions prone to standing water, which increases mosquito breeding.
