Telangana Sets Ambitious Goal of 5 GW Data Centre Capacity by 2029 Following Microsoft’s Launch of Hyderabad Cloud Region

Hyderabad, India – The state of Telangana has announced an ambitious plan to achieve a data centre capacity of 5 gigawatts (GW) by the year 2029. This development comes on the heels of Microsoft recently inaugurating its new cloud region in Hyderabad, reflecting growing interest and investment in Indias digital infrastructure.

Telangana’s initiative aims to position the state as a leading hub for data centres in the country, capitalizing on the increasing demand for cloud services and digital solutions. The government is working to create a supportive ecosystem encompassing policy reforms and infrastructure improvements to attract both domestic and global IT companies.

As part of this goal, Telanganas IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao emphasized the potential for job creation and technological advancements that these data centres could bring to the region.
