Telangana Government Aims for 5G Hyperscale Data Centre by 2029 with Targeted $30 Billion Investment

The Telangana government has announced an ambitious target of establishing 5 gigawatts (GW) of hyperscale data center capacity by the year 2029. This initiative is a part of the states broader strategy to attract significant investments in the technology sector, aiming to generate approximately $30 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI).

As digital transformation accelerates globally, hyperscale data centers—large-scale facilities that provide cloud storage and processing services—have become critical for supporting the increasing data demands of businesses and consumers. Telanganas proposal is expected to position the state as a key player in Indias tech landscape, capitalizing on the growing need for robust digital infrastructure.

The state administration emphasizes the creation of a conducive environment for tech companies, which includes regulatory support, enhanced connectivity, and access to renewable energy sources. Telangana is already home to several technology hubs and has been fostering a startup ecosystem that aligns with national goals for economic growth and digital innovation.

This initiative aligns with Indias objective to amplify its footprint in the global digital economy, as it seeks to enhance its capabilities in cloud computing, data management, and storage solutions. By attracting top-tier investments in this sector, Telangana aims to boost local employment opportunities and further develop its technology workforce.
