Five LPG ships destined for India remain anchored near the Hormuz Strait.

A group of ships is currently navigating through a strait, transporting over 170,000 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to India. This volume of LPG represents nearly six days worth of the countrys current import needs.

India is one of the largest consumers of LPG worldwide, and these shipments are crucial to meeting the demand for domestic and industrial use. The strategic import of LPG is essential for energy security, given the countrys reliance on fossil fuel imports. As per recent statistics, Indias LPG consumption has been on the rise, driven by various government initiatives to promote cleaner cooking fuels and reduce dependence on traditional biomass sources.

The timely arrival of these vessels will help maintain the supply chain and alleviate any potential shortages in the market, which can impact millions of households across the nation.
