Election Commission Deploys 2.5 Million Personnel for Assembly Polls in Five States

The Election Commission of India has announced the deployment of approximately 2.5 million personnel to oversee the upcoming Assembly elections in five states. This extensive mobilization is aimed at ensuring a smooth and transparent electoral process in the regions concerned.

The states where the elections will take place include Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry. As part of the preparations, the Election Commission is emphasizing the importance of fair and equitable voting practices.

In addition to personnel deployment, the Commission is implementing various technological and logistical measures to facilitate the voting process, including the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and voter-verified paper audit trails (VVPATs).

The elections are scheduled to occur over several phases, with specific dates yet to be confirmed. The Commission has also put in place special arrangements to ensure the safety and accessibility of the voting process amid the ongoing health concerns due to the pandemic.
