EAM Jaishankar and Canada FM Anand Discuss Enhancing Bilateral Relations

India and Canada are currently focused on strengthening their bilateral relationship as External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar holds discussions with Canadian Defence Minister Anita Anand. This meeting is part of ongoing trade negotiations aimed at significantly boosting trade between the two countries by 2030.

In a recent statement, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney indicated that there might be a visit from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December, which could further solidify the diplomatic ties between the two nations.

The bilateral relationship has faced challenges in the past, particularly concerning security issues; however, both countries appear to be working towards normalizing relations. The strengthening of ties is seen as mutually beneficial, with India being one of Canadas largest trade partners in Asia. The two nations have been exploring various avenues for collaboration, including sectors like technology, agriculture, and clean energy, which are expected to play a critical role in achieving the trade targets set for 2030.
