Karnataka Contractors Request Release of Pending Bills Worth Rs 38,000 Crore

Contractors in Karnataka have urged the state government to release approximately Rs 38,000 crore in pending bills. These overdue payments, which have accumulated due to a range of factors including delays in project approvals and bureaucracy, are crucial for the financial stability of many contractors who rely on timely funds for ongoing operations.

The Karnataka State Contractors Association, representing a significant number of contractors, has emphasized that the non-payment is affecting their ability to pay workers and meet other financial obligations. This situation comes at a time when the construction industry is already facing challenges due to rising material costs and supply chain disruptions exacerbated by global events.

The association has called for immediate action from the government, highlighting the impact that delayed payments have not only on contractors but also on the overall economy, which relies heavily on the construction sector for growth. They have indicated that continued inaction could lead to a halt in various projects and further financial distress within the industry.

The Karnataka government has yet to respond formally to these requests, which are becoming increasingly urgent as contractors face mounting financial pressures.
