Factories in India show increased activity as demand, output, and hiring improve in Q2, according to a survey.

According to a recent survey conducted by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Indias manufacturing sector has shown significant improvement in the second quarter of the fiscal year. The survey highlights a positive trend in demand, production, and employment within factories across the country.

The FICCIs quarterly survey, which included responses from various manufacturing companies, indicates that a majority of participants reported an increase in production levels. Approximately 60% of the respondents noted a rise in their output, reflecting a robust recovery in the sector. This uptick in production is attributed to a resurgence in domestic demand, which has been bolstered by various government initiatives aimed at stimulating economic growth.

In addition to increased production, the survey revealed that hiring practices have also improved. Many manufacturers expressed optimism about their workforce needs, with around 50% of respondents planning to expand their workforce in the coming months. This is a notable shift from previous quarters, where uncertainty surrounding the economic landscape led to cautious hiring practices.

The survey also pointed out that the overall business sentiment among manufacturers is on the rise. Factors contributing to this positive outlook include improved order books and a stable supply chain, which have allowed companies to operate more efficiently. Furthermore, the easing of pandemic-related restrictions has enabled factories to ramp up their operations, leading to enhanced productivity.

Despite these encouraging signs, the FICCI survey cautioned that challenges remain. Manufacturers are still facing issues such as rising input costs and supply chain disruptions, which could impact future growth. However, the overall sentiment remains optimistic, with many manufacturers expressing confidence in their ability to navigate these challenges.

In summary, the FICCI survey paints a promising picture of Indias manufacturing sector in the second quarter, highlighting improvements in demand, output, and employment. As the economy continues to recover, manufacturers are hopeful that these positive trends will sustain, contributing to the overall growth of the Indian economy.
