Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the Noida International Airport located in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, on March 28, 2026. This airport is the third major airport in the National Capital Region (NCR), designed to enhance connectivity and support regional economic growth.
The Noida International Airport, also referred to as Jewar Airport, is expected to significantly improve air travel options for residents of Delhi-NCR. With an anticipated capacity of over 12 million passengers annually at its initial phase, the airport aims to relieve congestion at existing airports in the region, such as Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi.
The project is part of a larger vision to develop an integrated transport infrastructure in northern India and is expected to generate thousands of jobs directly and indirectly. The airport is equipped with modern facilities and is designed to accommodate growth in air traffic, catering to both domestic and international travelers.
