Assam Reaches Settlement Agreement with Hmar and Kuki Groups
A new agreement has been reached that proposes the establishment of welfare development councils for the Hmar and Kuki communities. All four groups involved have signed a Suspension of Operations agreement and disarmed in 2012. According to an Assam Minister, there are plans for the rehabilitation of the armed cadres associated with these groups.
