Supreme Court Approves UPSCs Requirement for Delays in Selecting State DGPs
The Attorney General informed the Supreme Court that the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is not authorized to permit significant delays in appointments. Additionally, the Supreme Court stated that states do not have the authority to appoint acting Directors General of Police (DGPs), as such a designation does not exist within the legal framework.
