Madhya Pradesh CM to Transfer Over 30 Crore Bonus to 369 Lakh Tendu Leaf Collectors in Betul

Madhya Pradeshs Chief Minister is set to transfer more than ₹30 crore in bonuses to approximately 3.69 lakh tendu leaf collectors in the Betul district. This initiative aims to support and recognize the hard work of those involved in the collection of tendu leaves, which are a key resource for local economic activities.

The financial assistance is a part of the governments commitment to enhance the livelihoods of these collectors, who play a significant role in the states economy, particularly in forest-dependent communities. Tendu leaves are primarily used in the production of bidis, a traditional Indian cigarette, which generates substantial income for many families.

The CM highlighted the importance of ensuring that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries promptly and transparently. This transfer is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to the collectors, especially during the current economic climate. The government also reiterated its pledge to implement various schemes aimed at improving the overall welfare of marginalized groups, including forest workers like tendu leaf collectors.

Moreover, this initiative is part of broader efforts to promote sustainable development in rural areas of the state, ensuring that forest resources are managed responsibly while providing economic opportunities for local communities. With such measures, the Madhya Pradesh government is working to balance environmental conservation with the socio-economic needs of its residents.
