Supreme Court Approval Required for Delays in Selecting State DGPs Under UPSCs New Regulation

The Attorney General has informed the Supreme Court that the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) does not have the authority to overlook significant delays in appointments. Additionally, the Supreme Court stated that states are not permitted to appoint an acting Director General of Police (DGP), as there is no established provision for such an arrangement.
