UPSC Implements New Regulation Requiring Supreme Court Approval for Delays in Appointing State DGPs

The Attorney General has presented arguments to the Supreme Court, stating that there is no provision that empowers the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to overlook significant delays in appointments. Additionally, the Supreme Court clarified that states do not have the authority to appoint an acting Director General of Police (DGP), as such a position is not recognized in the legal framework.
