BJD MP Resigns from House Committee in Response to Comments About Biju Patnaik

BJP Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology and Communications, Nishikant Dubey, has made a controversial claim regarding former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik. Dubey alleged that Patnaik served as a “link” between the Indian government and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States.

This statement was made during a parliamentary session, where Dubey addressed issues concerning national security and foreign intelligence operations. Biju Patnaik, who played a significant role in Odisha politics and was Chief Minister during two non-consecutive terms between 1961 and 1963, and 1990 and 1995, is often hailed as a prominent leader and industrialist.

The assertion has sparked discussions about the historical relationships between Indian political figures and foreign intelligence agencies, particularly during the Cold War era. Analysts point out that many political leaders worldwide have been scrutinized for their connections to foreign governments and intelligence services, as these relationships can influence national policy and security issues.

As of now, no official evidence has been presented to substantiate Dubeys claims, and further investigation into the matter may be expected from various political quarters and historians.
