Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: LDF Aims to Maintain Control of Chirayinkeezhu as UDF and NDA Prepare to Challenge Incumbency

The Scheduled Caste (SC) reserved constituency has repeatedly supported the Left Democratic Front (LDF) since its establishment in 2011. As the LDF aims for a fourth consecutive victory in the upcoming elections, the contest is also shaped by candidates from the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). UDF’s candidate, Ramya Haridas, and NDA’s candidate, B.S. Anoop, are positioned to provide significant competition in what could be a closely contested race.

Historically, the LDFs stronghold in this constituency has been attributed to its policies aimed at social justice and empowerment of marginalized communities. Ramya Haridas, who is also an incumbent Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), is expected to leverage her experience and track record in the campaign. On the other hand, B.S. Anoop represents the NDA — a coalition known for its focus on development-oriented initiatives and policies appealing to a broader spectrum of the electorate.

The dynamics of the election may be influenced by various factors, including voter sentiment, local issues, and the candidates campaign strategies. The political landscape in the region is also shaped by several socio-economic factors that may affect voter turnout and preferences. As the election date approaches, all parties are likely to intensify their campaign efforts to secure a favorable outcome in this key constituency.
