Andhra Pradesh Launches Free Electricity Program for Weavers Starting Wednesday

The government has announced a new subsidy aimed at providing financial relief to the handloom and powerloom sectors. According to officials, the subsidy is expected to result in annual savings of ₹8,640 for handloom workers and ₹21,600 for powerloom operators.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to support the textile industry, which plays a crucial role in the economy and employs millions of workers across the country. The subsidy is intended to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by these workers, particularly in light of rising production costs and market challenges.

Officials indicated that the funds for the subsidy will be allocated from the government’s budget for the fiscal year and are expected to positively impact the livelihoods of those involved in traditional and mechanized weaving. Further details on the implementation of the subsidy and eligibility criteria are anticipated to be released in the coming weeks.
