A.P. Aims to Provide Safe Drinking Water to Every Household by 2028, Announces Chief Minister
The state government has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the central government to facilitate the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. This initiative aims to enhance access to safe and adequate drinking water in rural areas across the state.
During the announcement, Naidu emphasized that a key focus of this mission will be on the operation and maintenance of rural drinking water supply systems. He stated that ensuring the sustainability and efficiency of these systems is paramount for providing reliable water services to underserved communities.
Jal Jeevan Mission, launched in 2019, aims to provide piped water supply to every rural household by 2024. The 2.0 phase is expected to build on the initial framework by not only increasing access but also improving water quality and management practices. With this MoU, the state plans to mobilize resources and implement best practices in water supply management, contributing to better public health outcomes and overall rural development.
Further details on the timeline and specific programs under this collaboration are anticipated to be disclosed in the coming weeks.
