Biogas from Urban Wet Waste Powers 400 Buses in Indore
A new plant, established under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, is now operational, processing up to 500 tonnes of wet waste each day. This facility is capable of producing 21 tonnes of Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) daily, achieving a methane purity level exceeding 95 percent.
The plant aims to address the growing challenges of waste management and energy production, transforming organic waste into a renewable energy source. CBG is considered a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels and can be utilized for various applications, including transportation and power generation. This initiative aligns with sustainability goals, as it reduces landfill waste and greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to a circular economy.
The establishment of this facility is part of broader efforts to promote sustainable waste management practices and is expected to play a significant role in local energy production and environmental conservation. The PPP model utilized in the project combines the expertise of the private sector with public interest aims, enhancing operational efficiency and service delivery in waste management.
