CAG Report Indicates Karnataka Government Disbursed Grants to Private Engineering Colleges in Contravention of Regulations

BVBCET (Basavaraj N. B. College of Engineering and Technology) in Hubballi and SJCE (Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering) in Mysuru have been awarded government grants, despite being affiliated with private universities.

These grants are part of an initiative by the Karnataka government aimed at supporting engineering colleges to enhance their infrastructure and educational resources. Institutions typically affiliated with private universities may face challenges in securing funding; however, the governments decision reflects a commitment to improving technical education across the state.

Both BVBCET and SJCE have made significant advancements in research and development, contributing to their eligibility for these funds. The grants are intended to aid in upgrading laboratories, purchasing new technology, and expanding academic programs, aligning with the state’s objective to foster quality education and innovation in engineering disciplines.

Further details on the amount of funding awarded and specific projects planned for the grant utilization are expected to be released by the respective institutions in the coming weeks.
