Centre Encourages States to Consider Farm Solarization as a Strategy to Reduce ₹2.4 Lakh Crore Subsidy Bill

The Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) serves as the central framework for the Indian governments initiative to strengthen the domestic solar manufacturing sector. Established by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), the ALMM aims to promote the production and use of locally manufactured solar photovoltaic (PV) modules and related equipment.

By compiling a list of approved models and manufacturers, the ALMM facilitates the deployment of high-quality solar products while ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards. This initiative aligns with Indias broader goals of enhancing energy security, reducing reliance on imported solar technology, and boosting local employment in the renewable energy sector.

As part of the governments push towards sustainable energy, the ALMM also supports the nations commitment to achieving its target of 450 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, with solar power contributing a significant portion of this goal. The initiative is expected to bolster innovation in solar technology and encourage investment in domestic manufacturing capabilities.
