Close to 100 Ships Transit the Strait of Hormuz: An Overview of Maritime Passage
Since the beginning of March, approximately 100 ships have navigated through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, according to an analysis conducted by BBC Verify. The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime passage that connects the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea and serves as a critical route for the transportation of oil and gas from the Middle East to global markets. In fact, it is estimated that around 20% of the worlds oil trade transits through this narrow waterway. The increased ship passage in this period may reflect various factors, including fluctuating oil prices, geopolitical tensions, and the ongoing demand for energy supplies. The Strait remains a focal point in discussions regarding maritime security and international trade.
