Congress Releases Initial List of 55 Candidates for Kerala Assembly Elections 2026, Decisions Pending on MP Aspirants

K.C. Venugopal, General Secretary of the Indian National Congress, has stated that the party will consider the preferences of its Members of Parliament regarding contesting in the upcoming elections at a later date. Currently, the party has not announced its candidates for the Kannur and Konni constituencies, where MPs K. Sudhakaran and Adoor Prakash have expressed their interest in running. The preliminary list of candidates compiled by the party includes 20 sitting Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).

As the Congress party prepares for the electoral battle, the delay in candidate selection highlights ongoing discussions within the party regarding potential nominees and their strategic positioning in various constituencies. The decision to finalize candidates will likely take into account the political landscape, voter preferences, and the party’s overall electoral strategy.
