D.K. Shivakumar Questions Pralhad Joshi on Fuel Ship Allocations to Gujarat Over Karnataka and Kerala

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has expressed his disagreement with Union Minister Pralhad Joshis recommendation for autorickshaw drivers to transition from Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to petrol due to recent shortages of CNG in the region.

Shivakumar emphasized the importance of maintaining environmentally friendly transportation options and highlighted the state governments commitment to promoting cleaner fuels. He pointed out that CNG has been an integral part of Karnataka’s strategy to reduce vehicular emissions and combat pollution.

The discussion comes amid rising concerns about fuel availability and options for local transport operators, particularly autorickshaw drivers who heavily rely on CNG fuel. Stakeholders in the transport sector are urged to find sustainable solutions to these challenges while prioritizing environmental considerations.

As the situation develops, officials from both the state and central government are expected to engage in further dialogue to address the concerns of autorickshaw drivers and ensure a reliable supply of CNG.
